Reeves County is located west of Odessa in far West Texas. Created in 1883 and organized in 1884, the county is named for George R. Reeves, a Texas state legislator and Confederate Army colonel. As one of nine counties in the state’s Trans-Pecos region, Reeves County today is home to a population nearing 15,000 people, covering more than 2600 square miles of land. Communities within Reeves County include Balmorhea, Toyah, Lindsay and Brogado. The city of Pecos serves as the county seat.
